Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is the foundation of massage therapy. Swedish techniques include long flowing strokes, kneading, and compression. These techniques are designed to help relax and rejuvenate the body. Swedish massage allows for an increase in blood flow, improved circulation and oxygenation of the blood, and improved flexibility.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue (fascia) and is especially helpful for tense and contracted areas such as shoulders, lower back, and neck.

Deep pressure is used to help alleviate the tension and stress in the body. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem, such as injury rehabilitation, repetitive strain injuries, limited mobility, or muscle tension and pain.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing “trigger points” in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These “knots” are built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Sports Massage/Stretching

Sports Massage is a special form of massage and is typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries. Where minor injuries and lesions occur, due to overexertion and/or overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively. Sports massage can help prevent those niggling injuries that so often get in the way of performance and achievement, whether a person is an athlete or a once a week jogger.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is a specialty massage that uses heated stones to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. They are often basalt, a black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well. The heat from the warm basalt stones penetrates deeply to help loosen and soothe tight and tired muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Prenatal Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.
